It has its moments, and they are mostly in the trailer. The cool light trails cutting off a fighter jet, the Recognizer shooting off countless drones uniformly roaming the streets of Vancouver.I wouldn’t discount the amazing sound design when the Recognizer’s bass boosted engine shakes my seat. But the praise seems to stop there. The script is super bland, dialogue swims between “here is a cool line” and “here is a cringe line”. But I think the biggest problem of this movie is the miscast. None of them are bad actors, but it also feels like none of them fit the characters. This movie also lacks the sexy energy we love from Tron: Legacy. When I’m watching the movie, I can’t help but think, even if the story plays out exactly the same, I would have cared and enjoyed this movie way more if the cast actually have chemistry, and fit the roles. Most of the main characters just have very dead fish eyes.In terms of production, it is pretty solid. Reminds me of the bland misfire of the Ghost in the Shell remake.Verdict: 70
